-Tom Brady was caught in New York wearing a walking boot. No news on the severity or the even the legitimacy of the injury, but we will continue to update the situation.
-Carmelo Anthony left the Nuggets game with the Lakers early because of a sprained ankle. He will be re-evaluated today, so we’ll have an update on his status before Denver’s next game, Wednesday with Atlanta.
-Timberwolves third year forward Ryan Gomes absolutely abused the Warriors ‘defense’ on Monday for 35 points and 11 rebounds. Don’t get too used to that kind of production, but Gomes is averaging 16.6 ppg and 6.7 rpg in 10 games this month. Pick him up quick, because yesterday’s outburst means he won’t be a free agent for long.
-And speaking of guys not being around for long, if you need help with assists Mike Conley is still probably available. The rookie guard has at least 7 assists in four of his last five games (including a career-high 10 assists against the Bulls on Monday) and he’s even averaging 10.4 ppg this month.
-Looks like Wizards center Etan Thomas is getting closer to returning after undergoing open heart surgery last year. A great story, but don’t look for him to have much of a fantasy impact this season. His possible return could cut into current starter Brendan Haywood’s minutes, so keep an eye out for that.
-The White Sox agreed on a two-year contract with reliever Octavio Dotel yesterday. While Dotel has 82 career saves, the closers job still belongs to Bobby Jenks. In fact, the signings of Dotel and fellow reliever Scott Linebrink this off-season is nothing but good news for Jenks, who theoretically should have a lot more leads to protect now.
