Ideas on Where and How To Promote You and Your Sports Blog

During and after the fantasy football season a few of my fellow bloggers have been asking me how I was able to get all that traffic during the season. Although there were many reasons I was able to get that traffic, there was one strategy in particular that was responsible for the most. Today I’m going to share that traffic building strategy with you.

Also, not only will this simple strategy help you get a nice supply of traffic but it will help you find loyal readers, make more friends and have more fun blogging about the sport you love.

Although I used this strategy to promote the goat in the fantasy football world, I am pretty confident that these will work for any blog or site in any sport genre like; baseball, NASCAR, hockey, basketball, MMA, golf or whatever.

Step 1 - Pick a Sports Social Network.

1.) Fannation - A sports social network run by Sport Illustrated and CNN which boasts the highest traffic ranking of all the sites list here.
2.) Yardbarker - Very easy to submit a link and interact with other sport fans.
3.) Screamingsports - Manage fantasy teams from multiple websites in one place. Also offers automatic substitutions, mobile access, personal homepage, news, and blogs.
4.) Ballhype - News and information “pulled from thousands of sports blogs” and then voted (or Hyped) up or down by the community.
5.) Accuscore - A sports forecasting engine.
6.) Sports Matrix - You can take polls, share links, make blog posts and participate in forums.
7.) FantasyDope - News and insight for fantasy baseball, football, basketbal, NASCAR, and hockey. Submit your links to have readers vote them up or down.
8.) FantasyFootballCollective - The site is exclusively fantasy football but it does allow you to post links to stories and interact with other fantasy die hards.
9.) BetHype - The focus here is on gambling but don’t let that deter you. Anyone looking to lay a bet on a game is looking for all the perspective he can get and could likely be involved in fantasy sports.

Step 2 - Get Involved.

Getting involved in these communities is pretty straight forward, simply make a profile and get involved. Read other posts from other bloggers, make comments, submit other bloggers posts and post a few blog posts of your own.

This is a great way to mingle with poeple who are passionate about the same things you are and its a great way to make a name for yourself.

Some Tips.

- Start small. Only get involved in one or two of the communities at a time. Other than spreading myself to thin at peak times during the season, it severely limited my interaction with potential readers and other bloggers.

Even though I was able to get a nice amount of traffic - by posting abbreviated blog entries and submitting links everywhere I could - I believe that had I been more involved, I could have even more traffic to my blog but would have increased the amount of loyal readers.

- Be patient. Building a reputation and making friends takes time. Just focus on making good content and geting involved.

That should do it. With the information above you will be on your way to more traffic and more blogging fun.
